1) the question had a definite answer that was not debatable, so research and proof wasn't really a project since its already been proven. The student would find the answer immediately:
---Why are subs called the "silent service"?
---Why is there a February 29 every four years?
2) the claim was actually just a true fact, not a debatable issue that has more than one perspective:
-----no one has been near the sun.
-----if you break your arm, it will hurt.
-----most people in jail for domestic violence are men.
3) the question or claim didn't make logical or syntactical sense
-----why do time exist?
-----why people always have something to say?
4) the claim or question was too vague/philosophical and had to be narrowed into a context or else the research would take more than the next ten days:
---why do people think differently?
---why are we here?
---why are people so stupid?
5) the claim or question had an incorrect fact that could not be proven built into it:
-----why do all men cheat? (this won't work because all men don't cheat, only some do)
-----All school should be free (this won't work because a lot of school already is free)
6) The question or claim was impossible to answer or prove, because it was a force of nature that has no reason why:
-----Heatwaves should not exist
-----Why do people exist?
-----who is God?
But some of the questions are AMAZING. They are either complex science that we have multiple theories about, psychology and sociology that we have multiple theories about, or legitimate questions about the origin of something. I cannot wait to see what their research yields:
