Students commented on characters, setting, conflict - especially with the Harrison Bergeron discussion. Some students were relating it to Fahrenheit 451! It was awesome to watch it. And all students were 100% engaged! I wonder if this is because it was all digital and on the computer?
So that worked really well. Today, I'm going to give students a chance to re-do the google hangout discussion if they were in Period 3 or Period 1, and the rest of them will have to finish their autobiographical short stories, peer edit them, and then publish them. And hopefully we can get everyone publishing their stories on their blogs with the reflections.
If they finish, they can get started reading the next two short stories called "Wildwood" by Junot Diaz and "Sweetheart of the Song Trabong" by Tim O'Brien. We will discuss those two stories in a google hangout on Thursday, so students need to be finished with them by the end of class on Wednesday.
