Students can take one of their own questions or opinions about why something happened in the story - this could be why a character made a decision OR why the author made a decision - and then they will have to write a paragraph based on it.
If it is a question someone had...
- They need to first propose an answer to the question
- Then they need to find a quote from the text to prove it
- Then they need to explain why the quote answers the question
- They need to write the opinion in one, complete sentence as their claim
- They then need to find a quote from the text to prove it
- And then they need to explain why the quote answers the question.
Each time they finish a paragraph, they need to e-mail it to [email protected]. Feinberg will then e-mail them feedback about what they need to add to it. When Feinberg says they successfully proved their point, they will get 10 bonus points added to their grade, wherever it helps them the most.
But before we do that, students are going to read the google hangouts for the story they read, highlight where students used text evidence to support what they are saying, underline any mention of literary elements, and ALSO put a star next to where they themselves used textual evidence.
Otherwise, students need to use today to complete all other short story work they need to finish, since tomorrow we will start on the Research part of class (students will still be able to complete short story work, but the research part will also be a requirement.)
